Republican Leadership: More Jobs & Lower Unemployment

Through February, 15 of the top 20 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors.

Oh, but North Carolina is stuck with Democrat Governor Roy Cooper and we're still up there in the Top 5? That's right, 17 of the top 20 states have Republican-controlled legislatures. Just think how much finer it would be in Carolina without a petulant Democrat holding veto power?

• The top four states for jobs recovered are all led by Republican executives and legislatures – Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Texas.

• 9 of the 10 states that have more jobs than when the pandemic hit are Republican-led. The 1/10 outlier? North Carolina; with a comeback only made possible by a decade of pro-business and family-friendly tax-cutting reforms by enacted by Republican lawmakers.

• All Republican-led states have recovered at least two-thirds of their lost jobs.

• Republican-led states on average have recovered over 97% of their lost jobs compared to just 84% for Democrat-run states.

21 of the top 25 states with the lowest unemployment rates are led by Republican governors and 22 have Republican-controlled legislatures.

• 8 of the 10 states with the lowest unemployment rates are led by Republicans.

• The average unemployment rate for the nation’s 28 states with Republican governors is just 3.4%.

  • Democrat-led states have an average unemployment rate nearly a percentage point higher – 4.3%.

• 12 states hit new record low unemployment rates, ten of which have Republican governors and all 12 have Republican-controlled legislatures.

Facing higher prices at the pump? Thank a Democrat. As Americans are fighting to rebuild our economy, Democrats’ radical, un-American energy policies are crushing families and businesses across the country.

• 33 states have hit new record high gas prices, and in 34 states, Americans are paying average prices above $4 per gallon.

• The average American household will potentially spend an additional $2,000 on gas this year because of Biden’s gas hike.

Biden and blue state policies are making the U.S. more dependent on foreign oil.

• In California, Governor Gavin Newsom is undermining domestic energy production through burdensome policy, with permits for 1,000 new oil wells currently stalled while another 3,000 wells are “tangled in the thorns of the state’s regulatory process.”

• New York permanently banned fracking in 2020 and has made it “extremely difficult to economically transport oil and natural gas into or across the state.”

• The New England region is forced to rely on expensive foreign oil despite being just 400 miles from “perhaps the largest gas field in the United States in the Marcellus Shale” because “there’s no way to get to New England without going across New York.”

• In Michigan, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has tried to shutdown Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline, which could kill 33,755 Midwest jobs and cut off transportation for 66% of Michigan’s oil production.

To remind voters that Biden and Democrats’ anti-American energy agenda is costing them more, the Republican National Committee has launched a series of voter registration drives at gas stations across the country. It started right here in North Carolina.

If Democrats truly cared about the American people, they’d embrace the proven pro-growth, pro-worker, pro-energy policies that are leading Republican states to success.

• Sadly, liberal radicals are leading the Democrat party’s policy decisions – and the American people are paying the price.

• This is where having a Democrat governor hurts, as Governor Roy Cooper pushes the same Green New Deal agenda in North Carolina that makes energy more expensive and less reliable while making the government bigger and more intrusive.

• The importance of securing full Republican leadership for North Carolina, by attaining veto-proof majorities this November and the governor's mansion in 2024, cannot be overstated.
